This is a very beautiful pendant that still belongs to me, and was worn perhaps two or three times. I would say that it is a faux sand dollar but the detail is exquisite and I am tempted to believe that perhaps it was real at one time but I cannot be sure.
It is a Astriclypeus mannii, a species of sea urchin of the family Astriclypeidae. Their armour is covered with spines. It is placed in the genus Astriclypeus and lives in the sea. Astriclypeus mannii was first scientifically described in 1867 by Verrill.

On the top of the shell is a symbol that looks like a star, a reminder of the Star of Bethlehem that led wise men to the Christ Child. Around the star is an outline of an Easter lily, a reminder of the Lord’s resurrection.
